Monday June 7th, 2010 04:19 Tempting Temperley

Over the past several weeks I have been cleaning out my closets.
I have decided to be ruthless,
and keep only those things that I feel beautiful in,
And I will only buy new things that make me feel special.
Therefore, my wardrobe is a little sparse at the moment.
Now, if I was rich …
I would head over to Temperley to supplement my summer look
Have you seen their new stuff?

A girl can dream.

Wednesday May 19th, 2010 04:37 “Fashions fade, style is eternal.” {YSL}

I admit to being a huge fan of Sex & the City
I have gone on the tour.
Ate the cupcakes.
Drank the drinks.
But I am also a realist,
and while I enjoy the S&TC fashion,
you can not kid me into believing it is:
A.} affordable - especially in this economy, or
B.} wearable for the everyday NYC-er
This, however, clipped from the latest issue of Glamour gives me pause …
For not only would I wear this … but I love it …

And shocks beyond shocks -
I feel as though I maybe could AFFORD IT!

Tuesday May 18th, 2010 03:50 Fashion {& grace} Icon: Georgina Chapman

Georgina Chapman
––––
Georgie is the founder of Marchesa — named after Marchesa Luisa Casati,
who’s known as Europe’s most ‘notorious celebrity, & its most eccentric’,
at least for the first three decades of the 20th century.
{I am definetly going to have to read more about that gem.}

Georgina Chapman

How does she design? Well she …
‘looks for anything that’s unusual,
that I feel like I’m never going to see again…’

Georgina Chapman––––
She compares herself to ‘… a magpie’
{I am sure she means a collector & not the bird}
… whom likes ‘anything that sparkles’.
The outfit below came about because she had …
‘a lot of embroidery left over’ and nothing to wear.

I am in total agreement with Vanity Fair here:
‘No one could do quite so much with leftovers.’
Two cheers for strong & influential woman of the world.

Thursday May 13th, 2010 02:44 7 Little Things About Me: by Chantelle of ‘Belle Chantelle’

  1. I speak in 3–4 different accents a day, or 2–3 different languages a day. It depends on the company.
  2. Sometimes I get lost in my own city and have to locate myself via GPS (on my iPhone). Can’t say I’m afraid of exploring!
  3. I get inspired more by bloggers than I do via fashion magazines. I think that’s why there has been a drastic drop in my collection since I discovered the blogosphere.
  4. I became obsessed with minimalism this year, and it continues to have a large impact on my wardrobe– no hoarding! I actually donate a couple garments every two weeks, even if I don’t purchase anything to replace them.
  5. I danced ballet for 10 years, acrobatics for 2 years, and hip-hop for 6 years.
  6. My skin will tell you what time of year it is: exam period, summer vacation, regular school period, dance competition week, winter vacation, etc.
  7. When people have pearly white, perfectly straight teeth… I have a tendency to stare. (Sorry in advance!)

Chantelle’s fashion posts are commonly opened with a quote.
She blends together a beautiful combination of thought and imagery.
You never know what her post is going to be about …
but you do know that you will always be inspired.

Wednesday May 12th, 2010 03:06 7 Little Things About Me: by Kristy of ‘Vogue Gone Rogue’

Vogue Gone Rogue
  1. i sleep really strange hours. in any situation, i’m always the last person left awake.
  2. though i love fashion, i’m also a huge nerd. i’m a computer geek, i play video games, read comic books and sci-fi/fantasy is my favorite book genre. i’m obscenely good at mario kart wii — not in a conceited way but more in an i-spent-way-too-many-hours-playing kind of way.
  3. i randomly make up songs around the house. they are generally about my cats and/or shoes. some of my greatest hits include: upside down little kitty, strappy strappy black shoes, and roland is a kitty.
  4. i would rather make something than buy it any day.  i tend to only buy things i can’t possibly make.
  5. when i was growing up in southern california, my parents and i moved around a lot. i attended 11 different schools from kindergarten to 12th grade. most people feel sorry for me, but i actually loved it! my favorite part was all the art classes i got to take with a variety of different teachers.
  6. last summer, i moved from new york to milan, italy.  as a result, i’m officially trilingual, which is really exciting to me.
  7. i had my first photography exhibit when i was 8 years old.
